July 08, 2010Everything In Transit
Now before you get too excited, my next post will not be titled "The Glass Passenger". If you're already lost at this point (usually this only happens about halfway through my writing), then you're actually experiencing the right emotions, it turns out. Allow me to explain.
The past six months have been turbulent indeed, but not by any external measure. Judging objectively, I looked a lot like some anti-social dude who never left his apartment. Behind closed doors, however, sat a young man brooding. The past six months have seen resolutions anchored, dreams defined, motivations harnessed, a person reinvented--a metaphorical metamorphosis, if you will.
Unfortunately for you, my reader, I've also come to value privacy more in the past months, so there is not much that I want to say here. When I was migrating the old site to its new home (more on this below), I was actually contemplating whether I wanted to keep all that old writing up on the site. Every year I look back and I see and feel a personality that I've outgrown yet again. Still, I've always been a firm believer of the saying: "If you love where you are now, then you must love where you have been, for where you have been has led to where you are." (I don't know if any famous person ever said this--it's just something I've always believed and repeated. Maybe I actually originated this quote, in which case you are welcome to quote my self-proclaimed wisdom.) Therefore, I decided to let things be.
I will, however, go through and update my interests, as there is no implied guarantee of historical accuracy in those pages. I definitely intend those to be a current reflection of myself, since as I say, my interests are what define my life. Besides the occasional anachronicity, you may find that some functionality or links are broken; please bear with me as I patch up my online home and get everything back in order.
Ok, so why did I have to move my website in the first place? There are actually a couple of reasons, but I'm not at liberty to talk about most of them. I will, however, say very openly that my old host, hostingrails.com, has become a real piece of poop after the original owner sold the company. The new management is called "Jumpline" or something, and they have basically ruined what used to be an excellent service. I'm still fuming that I paid two years in advance back in January, just three months before disaster struck. Since then, people have been fleeing hostingrails.com like the plague. I'm sorry I ever recommended them to you--they were good at the time I did so, but for the love of God, stay far far away in the future.
If you have any questions or want to get in touch (since I've disappeared for the past six months, essentially), just shoot me an email. I guarantee you a thoughtful response, as always. Until then, I'm continuing my steady march towards my new goals and yes, until then, everything is in transit.
