Staying productive with…
In late 2013, I released an EP called The Every Mile Made Yours EP.
This album is special to me because it is entirely self-produced, from songwriting to artwork to mastering and everything in between (and there was a lot in between!). I gave myself 60 days to see it from start to finish, and what a learning experience it's been—especially learning how to sing for the first time. You'll want to check out the blog posts on the right for some valuable context!
I had trouble coming up with a genre for the EP because it blends so many styles of music. Specifically, you'll be detecting some or all of the following: indie, folk, acoustic, country, bluegrass, spoken word, ambient, pop, punk, piano rock, and yes, just a tinge of emo (the good kind). Hey, you guys should just consider yourselves lucky that I didn't include screamo in that list, which is definitely something I overdosed on in college.
But joking aside, The Every Mile Made Yours EP is a collection of five tracks that work together to tell a 25-minute story of travel, nature, love, uncertainty, loss, and resilience. You'll probably need a solid 25-minute attention span to really appreciate it because there really isn't a "single" per se. But that's hardly for me to decide—I hope there's something in it for everyone.
You can find it on SoundCloud, iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, and Google Play. Note that I don't get to set the prices, so sometimes you see weird things like the album being way more expensive than buying all five tracks individually, or other things that make no sense. I think Amazon has the most reasonable price, but definitely stream it first with the SoundCloud widget below!
P.S. If you really enjoyed the album but are not a Spotify user or just aren't in the habit of buying music, I'd be happy to send you some high-quality mp3s. Just send me an email!
Note: I also made a mini-site for the lyrics.

I've been on the road for most of 2013, with a focus on organic farming via WWOOF (World-Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms). See for yourself!
I didn't really develop as a writer until mid-college. I suspect it had something to do with not being formally educated in English until around age 12, but I'm happy to say I've caught up. It was only recently that I've begun to see my writing as a platform and identity, as opposed to something I did in order to not fail English class.
I've had a long-ish history of blogging dating all the way back to high school, but before I wrote respectably intelligent things (but do decide for yourself), I would lament about emo things on livejournal. Fortunately, those days are behind me (even though we all know that nothing on the Internet is ever behind us!)
Finally, while I traveled in 2013, I sent out a newsletter as a way to keep in touch with friends in addition to exploring email as a medium for long-form writing. Like most things I do, the newsletters required a bit of an attention span. There's not much happening today, but you are free to subscribe anyway as long as you're not counting on me to relieve your lonely inbox!
Even though Linguistics isn't about learning as many foreign languages as you can, it was my early exposure to various languages that ultimately sparked my interest in the field. I'm always interested in Language Exchanges, so let me know if we are a mutual match! (Table below is shown in descending order of proficiency)
And despite 99.999999% of the world being apathetic, I've made available my undergraduate honors thesis because I think it was actually pretty decent work.
To whet your appetite, the title is "Potentially Useful, Momentously Difficult: Inferring the Temporal Dimension of Sentence Comprehension Difficulty with Potential Functions and Second Order Measurements." Can't wait to read it now, huh?Warning: A background in computational linguistics is probably required!
Social Media Mystery
Having trouble finding me on the major social media sites? No worries, just use the links below!
P.S. It has been brought to my attention that a Doppelgänger of mine exists on Linked-In. And I don't mean all the Chinese girls who were named after me, who you'll also find on Linked-In. This is definitely a guy by the name of Mohan Zhang, about the same age, same profession, and even somewhat similar in appearance (cue obvious joke). But don't be fooled: accept no substitutes for the real me. Trust me—you'll be able to feel the difference.

… And this site?
This website is statically compiled by hakyll, and the stack looks roughly like (with many thanks to their respective authors/maintainers!)
I'm currently not taking on any new work, so there is no point in showing off old work. To get a sense of my design aesthetic, look no further than the website you are currently viewing. Featured prominently in this design are things that I like, such as:
- Laid-back color themes, often pastel-based
- Custom illustrated artwork
- Juxtaposition of complementary fonts
- Logical organization of content
If for some reason you're just dying for a website and you're about to make me an offer I can't refuse, then email is the best way to broach the subject.

These sections are even more personal, and even less likely to be associated with me (yet they are or have been!). To unlock them, you must know some really specific details about me. Again, just one-word answers.
